Propelling a Robust, Diverse Leadership Pipeline at Tata (2016 Case Study)

Tata Consultancy Services strengthened its recruitment process to attract a more diversified pool of qualified candidates and groom them for leadership roles. The TCS Accelerated Leadership Program starts when company representatives interview students from top business schools, such as the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Talent also is identified through corporate sponsorships with MBA student organizations. The high-potentials move into a two-year rotational program, including a stint at India headquarters. In the past four years, the number of candidates interested in the program has increased from 30 to 120. The initiative earned TCS a Silver Award for Best Unique or Innovative Leadership Development Program in the 2016 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
