Green Cross Health, a chain of retail pharmacies in New Zealand, needed a new leadership development program if it wanted to sustain momentum set up by its New Zealand Certificate in Retail. The retail program had exposed gaps where leaders could do a better job coaching, delegating, and supporting learning transfer. In response, Green Cross’ training team designed the action-oriented “Stellar Leadership Program,” which supports team development by requiring leaders to work with their own teams to complete one project per quarter over 12 months. The interactive, blended learning program charges regional managers with coaching their own participants. Green Cross earned a Gold Award for Best Use of Blended Learning in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
