Bright Horizons Develops Virtual Health & Safety Game (2017 Case Study)

Bright Horizons developed game-based eLearning on health and safety as the first in a planned series of interactive courses for teachers and others in its child care centers. The course, developed in collaboration with Allen Interactions, uses a points system, sound effects, a timer, branching scenarios, narrative elements, and game-like aesthetics. Those elements activate learners’ intrinsic motivation and inspire them to repeat the experience to achieve better performance in the game, reinforcing the information and behaviors they learned. The innovation earned Bright Horizons a Bronze Award for Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning Programs in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
