Citigroup’s 30-minute eLearning Tackles Unconscious Bias (2018 Case Study)

As Citigroup builds an inclusive culture, the learning team created interactive, 30-minute eLearning that challenges learners to take actions to minimize unconscious bias. Typically, diversity is thought of as gender, race, religion, etc., and not in more implicit ways, such as non-native speakers, remote workers, and interoffice differences (back-end office vs. client facing). The eLearning uses storytelling with music, sound effects as learners make decisions about real situations: selecting a group member to head a technology initiative or handling procedural differences when overseas staff members join a team. This innovation earned Citigroup a Gold Award for Best Advance in Custom Content in the 2018 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
