In 2005, HCL was losing significance in the rapidly evolving field of technology, infosystems, and healthcare, where slow growth and loss of market share can be fatal. HCL resolved this by turning its management hierarchy upside down to become one of the fastest-growing companies globally. Its ‘Employees First and Customers Second’ philosophy helped to create an innovative culture and network of trust through transparency. To reinforce this culture, HCL built an inclusive workplace, recruited from a diverse talent pool — including women, different nationalities, cultures and work experiences, and individuals with disabilities — and created a sustaining environment for them. HCL earned a Gold Award for Best Inclusion & Diversity Strategy in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
