Encore Capital Group’s “Encore Empire” is a learning game that helps account managers practice talking to consumers in a safe environment. It is part of a larger, blended learning program where participants play the game after going through classroom training on the techniques of consumer call management. The game comprises a series of 15 branching scenarios wrapped in a story-based narrative set in Medieval India and contains elements of mystique and fantasy. The mechanics of the game are closely aligned with the learning goals and provide the motivation necessary for learners to complete as many scenarios as possible. Encore Capital Group won a Gold Award for Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning in the 2018 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
