The Horton Group, an insurance, employee benefits, and risk advisory firm, changed its approach to sales executive training to minimize employee turnover and foster new talent. To reach its goals, the company branded Horton University and hired a training team. The team used a blended-learning approach that includes online, hybrid, live training, and gamification designed to appeal to a generationally diverse workforce. Team-building events help bridge the gap between sales and service teams, creating mutual understanding and respect. Participants are assigned learning plans based on their lines of business. The initiative earned Horton Group a Gold Award for Best Program for Sales Training and Performance in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
