Johnson Controls’ 3D Simulation Minimizes Logistical Costs, Maximizes Learning (2018 Case Study)

Johnson Controls’ “YVAA Simulation” is an interactive, 3D simulation that demonstrates intricacies of the YVAA chiller via 360-degree cutaway views. It also simulates real-time behavior of chiller controls. Finally, it enables the learner to perform a series of troubleshooting steps, emulating real-life scenarios. Creation of the app was driven by a need for accessibility and sociability, as well as minimizing cost and logistical dependence. The final product provides a “just in time, just for me” learning experience for Johnson Controls learners. Johnson Controls won a Silver Award for Best Use of Games or Simulations for Learning in the 2018 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
