KFC Champions Rich Recognition Culture for Top Restaurants, GMs (2017 Case Study)
KFC, faced with faltering sales and profits in late 2013, resurrected and enhanced its Best of the Best program to promote performance among restaurant general managers. The top 40 GMs are selected based on a scorecard that tracks speed of service, guest satisfaction, execution of brand standards, percentage of team trained, and restaurant sales growth. They win an extravagant weekend in a fun destination and take part in activities they wouldn’t dream of buying for themselves. Recognition cascades to their teams, who receive treats, gift cards and KFC apparel. KFC earned a Bronze Award for Best Advance in Employee Recognition in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
