Landseed Asia Meducation Creates Virtual Reality For Clinical Decision-Making (Tech Review)
Landseed Asia Meducation created a simulation game using virtual reality and artificial intelligence to teach clinical decision-making to medical professionals and students. The simulation allows repetitive practice with virtual “patients” who present to the clinician with an ailment. To make a diagnosis, a player presses the microphone button to “talk” with the virtual patient and “request” laboratory tests and x-rays. The “machine” then gives the player verbal and/or text data used in determining care. Participants receive immediate feedback. The player-virtual patient interaction and immersive environment provide a surreal experience. This innovation earned Landseed a Silver Award for Best Advance in Gaming or Simulation Technology in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group Excellence in Technology Awards.
