Facing a physician shortage, SSM Health built an organization-wide, data-driven process to recruit and retain top talent and grow its not-for-profit healthcare system. The challenge was to develop a collaborative strategy for its 20+ hospitals and 300 physician offices with their own recruitment process. The result was a talent acquisition plan that prioritizes mission-critical recruitment throughout the enterprise, uses consistent data analytics across all healthcare facilities, enables predictive confidence for future recruitment needs and impact revenue. The initiative quickly showed impact: a 34% reduction in open physician positions. This initiative earned SSM Health a Silver Award for Best Advance in Talent Acquisition Process in the 2018 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
