TCS Creates Global Program To Develop High-Potentials (2017 Case Study)

Tata Consultancy Services had numerous programs for high-potential employees spread across 55 countries, but it had no way to identify, track, and train high-potential employees for leadership roles globally. So TCS created INSPIRE to grow its pipeline so it could fill leadership positions quickly. INSPIRE identifies the high-potential pool by tracking appraisal data and assessing leadership competencies. Selected employees complete a career-aspiration form and select mentors who help them generate development plans that can include training, role changes for more breadth/depth of experience, and coaching. Thus far, 60 high-potentials have moved into leadership roles. TCS earned a Silver Award for Best Advance in High-Potential Development in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
