US Foods’ Safety Culture Program Reducing Injury-Related Costs (2018 Case Study)
US Foods embarked on the Safety Culture initiative to improve safety metrics and achieve consistent adherence to safety standards and processes across all distribution centers within the company. The program involved multiple elements to drive safety-related learning, modify workplace behaviors and provide ongoing performance support. The program was driven by the business goal to reduce costs associated with safety incidents and continues to be rolled out enterprise-wide. The end result is a well-structured program that has delivered verifiable improvements in safety metrics since its initial phase one deployment. US Foods won a Bronze Award for Best Results of a Learning Program in the 2018 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
