Vale, BTS Design Different Leadership Journeys Using Simulations Aligned to Business (2022 Case Study)
Vale designed different leadership development journeys using a simulation, which was based on scenarios modeled after Vale’s business. In the simulation, participants would experience everyday situations, discuss the trade-offs for each decision, understand the impact of their choices, and realize the necessary changes in their mindsets and behaviors. Within the simulation, leaders experimented with new behaviors and received positive reinforcement for taking new approaches to everyday tasks. This reinforced the benefit of behavior change and increased the chances that the new behaviors would become the new way of doing things. Vale and BTS were honored with a Silver Award for Best Advance in Leadership Development in the 2022 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
