UST Global’s need for more skilled IT personnel led to the development of a world-class candidate interviewing experience. Based on survey feedback, potential hires’ life/work aspirations became a top priority, while job descriptions were secondary. Shifting recruiters’ mindset to view, listen to, and engage with candidates was a key strategy that received enthusiastic candidate feedback. Assuming the role of mentor/advisor, recruiters refocused on hiring, training, and equipping inner-city minority women with tech skills necessary for in-demand IT positions. This process resulted in the recruitment and training of more than 550 women. UST Global earned a Bronze Award for Best Candidate Experience in the 2017 Brandon Hall Group HCM Excellence Awards.
