UPDATE: CERTIFIED TALENT MANAGEMENT STRATEGIST® PROGRAM Phase 2

Categories Talent Management

Course Prerequisite(s)

What I will learn?

  • How to analyze a complex, real-world business scenario and identify the business, workforce or talent need behind it
  • How to distinguish the real talent or capability gap from what may simply look like a request for a new program
  • How to design a talent solution that aligns with business priorities and the needs of employees, managers and leaders
  • How to plan an implementation approach that brings together development, coaching, performance practices, data and technology
  • How to prepare leaders, managers and employees to adopt and sustain new ways of working through an effective change management approach
  • How to define measurable benefits that go beyond participation to talent, performance, readiness and business results
  • How to apply the CTMS competencies together as an integrated talent solution, supported by specific evidence and sound reasoning
  • The structure matches the CLS Phase 2 version. I changed “learning” to “talent,” used “implementation” instead of “delivery” to match CTMS’s “explain how you would implement it,” and updated the measurable benefits to match the outcomes the CTMS companion emphasizes: promotion, retention, mobility, readiness and engagement.

  • Review all seven scenarios before choosing one. Each is built from a Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award-winning case study.
  • Use the CTMS Excellence in Practice companion to help you analyze your scenario. Its five lenses (Business Need, Design, Delivery, Change & Governance and Measurable Benefits) closely mirror the five parts of your submission.
  • Complete the Phase 2 submission form by addressing all five areas: identify the business need, design a solution, explain how you would implement it, describe your change management approach and outline the expected benefits.
  • Draw on the CTMS competencies throughout your response, and support your recommendations with specific evidence from the scenario.
  • When your submission is complete, upload it as a Word document to the “Your Written Case Study Submission” lesson for our evaluators to score.
  • Please allow 5 to 7 business days for scoring.
  • You may pause or exit at any time and pick up right where you left off from your Dashboard the next time you sign in.
  • If you have questions at any point, email us at [email protected].
  • Once your Phase 2 submission has been scored and you’ve earned at least 18 of 30 points, you will move on to Phase 3.

About Course

Phase 2 of the Certified Talent Management Strategist (CTMS) certification moves you from knowing the competencies to applying them. You’ll step into a realistic “what would you do” scenario built from a Brandon Hall Group Excellence Award-winning case study, and you’ll show how a talent management strategist would respond to a real business, workforce and talent challenge.

You’ll begin by reviewing all seven scenarios, drawn from award-winning programs at 3M, Colgate-Palmolive, Reliance Industries, Rockwell Automation, Salesforce, Sanofi and Verizon, and then choose the one you’d like to work on. Using that scenario, you’ll identify the business need, design a solution, explain how you would implement it, describe your change management approach and outline the expected benefits. The CTMS Excellence in Practice companion is an ideal guide for this work, because its five lenses for reading a case closely mirror the five parts of your submission. Our evaluators will review and score your completed submission, and once you pass, you’ll move on to Phase 3.
